From 1996 to 2008, Jamie was based in London. After being moved there by Salomon Brothers in March of 1996, he co-founded the firm’s Industrial Group in Europe, which generated peak revenues of $242mm. Jamie built relationships with industrial clients and advised them on strategy, capital raising, and mergers and acquisitions. His experience included completing the first ever public debt offering denominated in Euros for a corporate issuer (Metsä-Serlä) and the second ever non-dollar-denominated, non-investment-grade debt offering (Impress Metal Packaging). He completed a range of M&A transactions across the various jurisdictions in the EU and internationally (cross border), in addition to raising capital for clients in the equity market (initial public offerings, secondary offerings, convertible bonds and rights offerings) and in the fixed income market (investment grade and non-investment grade debt). Jamie led a number of advisory assignments, including developing a growth strategy for Europeans in new international markets, as well as advising governments such as the Republic of Portugal on how it should manage and support its pulp and paper industry. Jamie served in a number of leadership positions with Salomon Brothers and Citigroup. He was Chairman of the Junior Compensation Committee (Associate to VP 3) in 2001, and served on the Junior Compensation Committee as a Specialist in 2002 and on the Senior (Directors) Compensation Committee in 2003 and 2004. He was co-head of the Resource Steering Committee in 2001 and 2002, a member of Resource Steering Committee from 2003 to 2008, and was Co-Chair of the Recruiting Committee from 2000 to 2008, which reviewed all prospective professional employees in Europe. He was also a member of the pool of senior Managing Directors that served on the Fairness Committee. From 1984 to 1996, Jamie was based in New York City, where he gained exposure in a variety of groups at Salomon Brothers as his career developed. He worked in the Large Capitalization Group with Fortune 500 companies, in the Technology and Health Care Group with emerging companies, and in the Industrial Group with a variety of mid- and large-capitalization industrial companies ranging in size from $10mm in EBITDA to $1bn in EBITDA. He assisted clients with the full range of investment banking products and also completed a successful restructuring of a Fortune 500 company. Immediately after graduating from Yale University, Jamie joined Chemical Bank, where he completed their Corporate Bank credit training program. During this time, he analyzed two interesting credits in particular: Chrysler Corporation, 12 months before it had to be bailed out by the US government in August of 1979; and Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, the year it recorded a massive provision for the recall of its Firestone 500 tire. Jamie received a BA from Yale University in 1977 and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University in 1984. |
